London Landmarks Half Marathon 2024 in Memory of Emma Grant-Ross

My Story
On Sunday 16 October 2022 our lives were rocked to the core when our dearest Emma tragically lost her life in a motorcycle accident. Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) attended the scene and despite a truly heroic effort, it was not to be and they were unable to save her. In our absolute devastation, my brother and I (and of course Emma's and my family) felt the need to support this charity by way of thanks for all they did that day and to hopefully prevent another family from experiencing the same agony. Fourteen months on and we are each of us trying very hard to come to terms with the loss of our Emma, it has been one of the hardest years to get through but we have to keep living and moving forward - Emma would expect nothing less of us.
As many of you know, I had intended to run in 2023 but a knee injury in January 2023 (a tear in the meniscus and grade 2 severe sprains of the ACL and PCL) put all thoughts of running on the burner, hell I could scarcely walk let alone run! Ten long months of frustration, physio and rehab later, I'm back on the road "running" (really its shuffling!) and I am more determined than ever to do this run in Emma's memory. I'm delighted to say that my dear brother will be joining me in running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday 7th April 2024 raising money for KSS. Now I know that some might say well you've run farther before, frankly I don't know whether I'll manage to run the whole way round on the day given my knee, but it is not about the challenge this time, its about the opportunity to raise funds for a charity that is now so close to my heart and that of my family and Emma's. Any donation, no matter the amount will go a long way to funding the vitally important work this charity does thereby hopefully giving others in Emma’s position a better outcome.
The funds raised from my run will help KSS to continue delivering 24/7 life-saving care across our regions.
Your contribution will make an massive impact with every penny helping to save lives. Here's how your money will make a difference:
- £5 could buy a pressure infuser, which is used when a critically ill or injured patient requires a rapid administration of fluids of blood products because of low blood pressure or bleeding.
- £17 could buy one set of tubing for our ventilator, helping patients to breathe when they have been anaesthetised.
- £60 could buy a set of fire-retardant undergarments for a crew member to wear
- £120 could buy enough aircraft fuel for one life-saving mission

From the bottom of my heart and that of my brother, my nieces and nephews, all of Emma's and my family, we thank you.
